2018: A remarkable year in Bela Padilla’s life

Bela Padilla continues to soar in 2018 with three blockbuster films and upcoming endeavors. Here’s a recap on what our favorite actress has achieved last year:

Carlo Aquino and Bela Padilla in Meet Me in St. Gallen

1. Meet Me in St. Gallen

A rom-com film which stars Bela Padilla along with Carlo Aquino, the storyline delineates how fate tries to bring together two complete strangers. Celeste, Bela’s character in the movie, carefully mustered the ingredients for a feasible and beautiful romantic tale, only to abruptly loosen their ties and reinforcing one thing: Jesse and Celeste’s love story is seemingly impossible to attain.

JC Santos and Bela Padilla in ‘The Day After Valentine’s’

2. The Day After Valentine’s

One of the eight featured films under Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) for 2018. This film is the second film that Bela had with JC Santos (100 Tula Para Kay Stella being the first) and was also a part of PPP in 2017. The shortest, most honest summary of the movie for me: When a broken hearted girl tries to fix a broken hearted boy, what could possibly go wrong?

3. Mea Culpa

It’s an upcoming crime thriller TV series starring Bela Padilla along with Jodi Sta. Maria, Tony Labrusca, Kit Thompson, Sandino Martin, Ketchup Eusebio, and Ivana Alawi. The trailer of the said TV show was announced during ABS-CBN’s trade event launch last year, showing the clash between Jodi Sta Maria and Bela’s group of friends. Their lives are raveled because of an accident where Jodi Sta Maria’s child who appears to be a survivor, went missing. The premiere date for the TV show is yet to be announced.

Bela Padilla in ‘The Pool Show’

4. The Pool Show

Launched June of 2018, The Pool Show, is a web show who claims to be “unlike any other web shows you’ve seen before”. Providing their viewers with big laughs every episode, celebrity guests, and literally everything in between. Bela is the main host and considered to be some kind of a pack leader, but she also has Suzy Gamboa, Aaron Ataydde and Bea Gamboa as the show’s segment hosts. Dony Pangilinan later on joined as one of the hosts after his guesting in one of the episodes.

5. Producer in an upcoming ABS-CBN show

The 27- year old actress and the choice for “sawi” movies, embark on a new journey in show business—behind the cameras as a producer. As much as we like seeing her acting, she decided to take a step back from acting roles and stay behind the cameras. The TV show is composed of six episodes in a mini-series. No details yet as to what this TV show is all about but Bela said in one of her interviews, “Very cute rom-com na maraming values,” (Source: pep.ph)

Tanduay 2019 Calendar Girl Bela Padilla

6. Calendar Girl of Tanduay for 2019

Last November 22, 2018, Tanduay, during their press launch at the Movie Stars Café in Eton Centris, revealed that Bela will be their calendar for this year, 2019. The 27- year old actress, is best known for her roles in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, 100 Tula Para kay Stella, Meet Me in St. Gallen, and A Day After Valentine’s. She is also a screenwriter and producer. She is the fitting choice to join in Tanduay’s list of multifarious women, which includes Heart Evangelista, KC Concepcion, Bangs Garcia in their previous issues. And this year is Tanduay’s 165th year anniversary so Bela’s selection is very timely as she represents modern Filipinas who are independent and unafraid to unveil their true stories. She is an inspiration to many in terms of voicing out her opinions, being bold, and fearless—the characteristics that mirrors the brand’s mission, Tibay ng Loob.

7. Not just an actress, a scriptwriter, too

Despite having a tight schedule, Bela still managed to do scriptwriting. She in fact has written several scripts credits to her name. To name a few of the movies, 10,000 Hours, Luck at First Sight, and 2017’s Piolo Pascual-Toni Gonzaga tandem– Last Night. She also has an upcoming movie that Star Cinema commissioned for her to write, no further details yet, however, Bela said in one of her interviews, that it is an 18-year-old love story, so it took her a while to finish it because she had to research, but nevertheless, she had so much fun writing the script.

2018 was a successful and great year for Bela. Writing and acting projects here and there, not to mention modelling stints. There are other momentous highlights on her career for the past year, however, these are the most significant and best for me. You are one of the most influential celebrity to teens and adults alike. Keep slaying, Bela!
